The comfortable wooden cabins at Austnes Salmon Lodge are situated just a few meters from the river and the Østnesfossen waterfall—one of the best salmon fishing spots in this section of the river. All fishing sectors are within walking distance of the cabins, and a shop and fast-food restaurant are also nearby.
The "Salmon Cabins" offer the largest accommodation option. They feature a living area, an open-plan kitchen, two separate bedrooms, and a bathroom with a shower and toilet. Heating and electricity ensure comfort in all weather conditions.
The price includes all meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as tea, coffee, and soft drinks. Alcohol is not sold at the lodge, so guests may bring their own or purchase it at the local shop, which is within walking distance. A new communal area is also being set up on the premises, where anglers can socialize, have a drink, and share stories from the river in the evenings.
Norway enforces strict regulations to prevent the spread of the *Gyrodactylus salaris* parasite, which can seriously threaten salmon populations. Consequently, before fishing in the Verdalselva River, all equipment, clothing, and waders must be properly disinfected—especially any items that have come into contact with other bodies of water. Disinfection stations are located along the river, using a 1% Virkon-S solution that does not damage gear or clothing.
